Barbadian singer, Robyn Rihanna Fenty has launched her highly anticipated makeup brand, Fenty Beauty. The collection launched September 8th and is sold through fentybeauty.com and Sephora.
Fenty Beauty was created for everyone: for women of all shades, personalities, attitudes, cultures, and races. I wanted everyone to feel included. That is the real reason I made this line, Rihanna says in a quote displayed on fentybeauty.com.
With 40 foundation shades, we would say Fenty is definitely working to meet that goal. Pale and darker skin tones have been underrepresented in the makeup industry for years. Although, a few brands exist that offer a wide range of colors, there is still a lack of formula variety. Simply having a shade in your color does not mean the foundation’s formula will work for your skin type (oily, dry, combination oily) or settle skin concerns (large pores, wrinkles, etc.).
We are adoring this collection because it seems as if Rihanna truly thought about everyone. Browsing the website, you will see there are 10 soft matte foundations for light skin tones, 10 for medium, 10 for tan, and 10 for deep. We wonder if that number will grow in the future? Will more darker tones be necessary or has the void been filled?
Foundations are not all that the brand has to offer. There are skinsticks in 30 shades, blotting powder, oil blotting sheets, cream-powder highlighters, magnetic match stix, brushes and more.
